Director / Writer's Note:

Navigating religion and how YOU fit into is hard. And that’s where I found myself when approaching this show.

SIN: The Musical has always come from a very personal place for me. Beneath the glitter, satire, pop music, and camp spectacle is a story about people trying desperately to be loved in a world that has turned connection into performance.

I started writing this show because I found myself asking a question that felt both ancient and painfully modern: if compassion itself returned to Earth today… would we even recognize it? Or would we turn it into content? A brand? A controversy? A hashtag?

We live in a culture that rewards outrage more quickly than empathy, where public image often matters more than private kindness, and where people are encouraged to perform perfection while quietly falling apart underneath it. SIN was born out of the tension between those realities and the teachings many of us grew up hearing about love, forgiveness, grace, and community.

At its core, this show is not about religion as much as it is about humanity. It’s about shame. Fame. Loneliness. The need to belong. The fear of being misunderstood. It’s about how easy it has become to commodify spirituality, identity, morality, and even each other. Most importantly, it’s about what happens when people stop seeing one another as souls and start seeing one another as audiences.

Using the music of Lady Gaga gave this story its heartbeat. Her music has always lived in the space between theatricality and vulnerability; between spectacle and sincerity. That duality became the DNA of SIN. The songs allowed us to create a world that is outrageous, funny, messy, chaotic, and deeply emotional all at once.

I never wanted this musical to preach. I wanted it to ask questions. I wanted it to laugh at hypocrisy while still believing people are capable of goodness. I wanted to create something campy and irreverent that could still hold tenderness at its center. Something that could make audiences laugh one moment and unexpectedly reflect the next.

The title SIN ultimately stands for “Second Incarnation Now,” but to me it also represents the idea that redemption is not some distant event reserved for the divine. It is a choice we make every day… in how we treat people, how we forgive, how we listen, and how we love each other despite our imperfections.

This show was created with enormous love for the beautifully flawed people who inspired it. The outsiders. The doubters. The believers. The ones who have felt judged, silenced, abandoned, or “not enough.” If there is one thing I hope audiences carry with them after the final curtain, it’s this:

Maybe the holiest thing we can do is choose compassion anyway.

So thank you for coming on this journey with us as we explore those ideas through the lens of this show. I hope it brings you the same joy that it brings us. And remember, LOVE is the miracle that we are all capable of!
