ABOUT THE SHOW
The Masks We Wear is a powerful sermon to theater experience that explores the hidden struggles we carry behind polished smiles and perfected appearances. Inspired by the sermon of the same name preached by the late Dorothy Marie Jarrett. What began as a message given to her by God and delivered from the pulpit has now been carried forward through theater by her son, Cameo Lamar Jarrett.
Set during an intimate gathering, the story unfolds as seemingly ordinary moments begin to reveal extraordinary truths about identity, faith, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to be seen.
Through layered storytelling, movement, music, and raw dialogue, The Masks We Wear confront the realities of anxiety, perfectionalism, insecurity, jealousy, addiction, self harm, and unspoken pain. Each character arrives wearing a mask shaped by expectation, fear, or survival only to discover that healing cannot begin until what is hidden is finally uncovered.
At its core this production is not about condemnation, but compassion. It is a reminder that God sees beyond the mask, beyond the performance, and into the heart. That grace meets us not where we pretend to be, but where we truly are.
The Masks We Wear invites the audience to look beyond appearances, reflect on their own hidden places, and consider the freedom found in authenticity. Because when the masks fall, healing begins and purpose is finally able to take center stage.

From her teen years, portraying Mary riding into Bethlehem to taking on lead roles addressing meaningful youth issues, Cassandra has always felt at home on stage. RAYNARD JARRETT
Before the stages, before the productions, before CLJ Productionz ever had a name, there was a vision.
Raynard Jarrett was the original visionary whose dream laid the foundation for what CLJ Produtionz has become today. Long before his son Cameo stepped into his own calling, Raynard envisioned a family united through music. From the firstborn to the sixth from his union with Dorothy, he formed a family gospel band, cultivating not only harmony in sound, but unity in purpose.
Through the vision, Raynard introduced his children to the world of creativity placing them on stages, traveling, performing, and teaching them what it meant to carry themselves with excellence. in those early moments, Cameo's creative journey was born: singing, dancing, performing before audiences, and learning the discipline that would later shape his artistry.
What began as family ministry became a classroom for life. Raynard instilled professionalism, attention to detail, precision, disciple, and organization: values that now live at the core of CLJ Productionz. He taught his children how to show up prepared, to respect the craft, and honor the platform they were given.
Though the vision expanded into theater, event production, storytelling, and creative community building, its roots remain firmly planted in Raynard Jarrett's original dream. The stages may be larger now, the expressions broader, but the foundation is the same. CLJ Productionz stands as a living extension of his legacy. Because before there a platform.. there was a father with a vision
DOROTHY MARIE JARRETT
The Masks We Wear is an inspired adaptation of a sermon originally preached by the late Dorothy Marie Jarrett. What was once delivered from the pulpit has now been carried forward by her son, Cameo, and reimagined for the stage as a theatrical experience rooted in faith, truth, and healing. Though she is no longer physically present, Dorothy’s voice, wisdom, and spiritual conviction continue to live on through her sermons, her family, and the countless lives she impacted. Her words still echo. Her teachings still guide. Her faith still stirs hearts. Dorothy had a deep love for singing, a passion for cooking, and an unwavering devotion to her family. Her greatest joy was her husband and her six children, in whom her legacy continues to flourish. She poured into them strength, faith, resilience, and the reminder to always put God first, trust His plan, and keep moving forward no matter the circumstance. This production is lovingly dedicated to the remarkable woman she was and the foundation she built a foundation of faith that refuses to crumble. Cameo chooses to honor his mother not in silence, but in purpose by continuing the work, carrying the message, and allowing her spiritual imprint to live on through storytelling. Her declaration remains steady and sure not just a phrase, but a posture of faith:
It Is Well.
CAMEO LAMAR
Cameo Lamar Jarrett is the Writer and Director of The Masks We Wear and the visionary Creative Director of CLJ Productionz.
Cameo’s love for the arts began at an early age but was solidified during his senior year of high school when he appeared as the Lion in The Wiz. That experience ignited a deep connection to theater, quietly planting the seeds for what would later become his life’s work. Though he never set out to be a writer, God had other plans. In 2017, Cameo wrote his first stage production, Don’t Cry for Me, an award winning work that marked the beginning of an unexpected yet powerful journey into storytelling through writing and directing.
Rooted in faith and driven by purpose, Cameo’s work lives at the intersection of storytelling, healing, and community. His signature “sermon to theater” style blends raw honesty with spiritual depth, using the stage not as a place for performance, but as a space for truth. Through theater, movement, and testimony, he creates experiences that invite reflection, release, and restoration.
While theater remains the foundation, Cameo’s creative vision extends far beyond the stage. His passion for the arts spans multiple disciplines including event design and décor, creative fitness and wellness, movement, and community-centered experiences. This expansive approach is the heartbeat of CLJ Productionz: an all-in-one creative platform and community center without walls, intentionally designed to create room for every individual to explore creativity, discover purpose, and feel a sense of belonging.
The Masks We Wear was born from Cameo’s own journey navigating grief, identity, faith, and the pressure to appear “put together” while silently breaking. This production is deeply personal and serves as an offering to anyone who has ever felt the need to hide their pain, silence their struggle, or wear strength as armor.
As both a creative and a servant leader, Cameo believes that art should do more than entertain it should heal. Through CLJ Productionz, he is committed to cultivating a Christian-led creative community where everyone is a star, whether they have one line or one hundred. His heart is to nurture God given gifts through love, support, and shared experience.
CLJ Productionz exists to allow creativity to thrive, stories to heal, and purpose to take center stage no matter the craft.
Cameo’s hope is that every audience member leaves feeling seen, reminded that they are not alone, and encouraged to remove the masks they no longer need.

She began her artistic journey at a young age, studying acting and technical theater at Morton High School through the Hammond Academy for the Performing Arts (HAPA). Her passion quickly expanded beyond performance, as she began teaching junior theater and dance through a nonprofit organization at just 17 years old.
Raquel has been with CLJ Productionz since its official launch, serving as one of the first leading female roles in the company’s inaugural production. Over time, she has continued to grow not only in her acting craft, but in her ability to lead, mentor, and nurture other performers helping them find confidence, discipline, and purpose on and off the stage.
She believes The Masks We Wear is a production meant for a time such as this calling audiences to honesty, healing, and freedom through truth. To her, CLJ Productionz is more than a production company; it is a platform for self-discovery and a safe space for voices that have gone unheard.
Raquel is honored to serve in leadership alongside the Director, helping to build a creative community rooted in vision, compassion, and purpose. She looks forward to witnessing how CLJ Productionz continues to grow and impact lives through storytelling and creativity.
